UTP Invitational Chess Tournament 2013 is a competition which allows the involvement of all UTPian Community (UTP Staff and UTP students) and chess players from other universities (expecting the participation from Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Islam Antarabangsa (UIA), Univerisiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), and others) in Malaysia. The tournament is conducted with the aims to expose UTP Chess Community to compete with other players and title players from different universities and to promote UTP as a private institution of education that emphasizes on overall student’s development. The purpose of this tournament is to provide a standard time control tournament for top chess players from local Institution of Higher Learning. The tournament helps to integrate students and the outsiders especially chess fan to boost the importance of involving in tournament to gain as much experiences as they could, since there is chances and opportunities.UTP Invitational Chess Tournament is planned to be held in 27, 28 and 29 September 2013, in Seminar Room of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS.
This tournament is also important in order to promote UTP as the leader in technology education and centre of creativity and innovation. By including media coverage and some other mechanisms, this tournament directly becomes one of the means to promote UTP to the country. Obviously, with all commitment and full support from all parties, this tournament will be successfully organized and will achieve superior feedback from the targeted community.
